Southwestern High School's
WARRIOR BATTALION
Character and Leadership Training Program
Mission
To motivate young people to be better citizens
Established by Congress in 1916, Army Junior Reserve officer's Training Corps (JROTC) has demonstrated that it is an effective course in developing young people. Cadets typically graduate from high school at a greater rate, have better attendance and perform more community service than their non-JROTC counterparts. Principals, parents, and former cadets strongly endorse the positive impact that Junior ROTC has on their children, school and community.
Duty Honor Country
The Southwestern JROTC program has dedicated years of selfless support and service to our school and community. Through these efforts, we have strengthened the integrity and bonds of our Cadets.
WE PREPARE YOU FOR LIFE
History, geography, social awareness, career development, current events, military history, leadership and physical training are the mainstays of instruction. JROTC is taught during regular school hours and offers many extra-curricular activities.
Extracurricular activities such as Rifle Team, Color Guard and Raider Team are offered to all cadets. Some cadets even get the chance to go to a summer camp where they participate in confidence courses, physical training, drill, play team sports, learn land navigation and water safety techniques.
Cadet Creed
I am an Army Junior ROTC Cadet.
I will always conduct myself to bring credit to my family, country, school and the Corps of Cadets.
I am loyal and patriotic.
I am the future of the United States of America.
I do not lie, cheat, or steal;
and will always be accountable for my actions and deeds.
I will always practice good citizenship and patriotism.
I will work hard to improve my mind and strengthen my body.
I will seek the mantle of leadership and stand prepared to uphold the Constitution and the American way of life.
May God grant me the strength to always live by this creed.
